Thomas Hooker (1586?-1647), an English nonconformist preacher, emigrated to America, where he remained a pastor and preacher. On his deathbed, one of the bystanders remarked, “Sir, you are going to receive the reward of all your labors.” The preacher replied, “Brother, I am going to receive mercy!”
